It’s possible that Real Madrid will look to add a left back in the summer of 2024, even though they already had Fran García back from Rayo Vallecano.
As a weekly starter at the position, Fran hasn’t quite lived up to the high standards set by Real Madrid, and Ferland Mendy’s play continues to be very poor.
Let’s look at five left backs that Real Madrid might be interested in signing in the summer of 2024.
Alphonso Davies, FC Bayern München

.
Real Madrid should definitely sign Alphonso Davies as their left back because, even though he isn’t very good at technical skills or making the final pass, he has everything else they want in a defender.
Carlo Ancelotti and the Merengues want a left back who is always on the move, can get up the field, send in a lot of passes, and help Vinícius Júnior cut inside for goal-scoring chances.
Real Madrid has loved how stable Mendy is at defense, but they want a defender who works hard and can still help the attαck without stifling everyone else because defenses know they aren’t a threαt.
Davies is having a great season. It’s better than last year because he plays with Harry Kane, with whom he gets along better than with Robert Lewandowski, who sometimes gets stuck in a rut.
The Canadian giant looks like someone that Ancelotti and Juni Calafat would love to have. There is a good chance that Davies will turn down the chance to stay at Bayern Munich in favor of a risky move to the Bernabéu if both of those teams really want him.
Bradley Locko, Brest
In Ligue 1, there are a lot of young players to keep an eye on, but Bradley Locko jumps out. He is having a great 2023–24 season so far for Brest, who is surprising everyone by finishing fourth.
Locko is one of the best players at his position in Europe’s top five leagues, even though he is only 21 years old. The Frenchman completes more than three dribbles and draws three fouls every game.
Even better, he makes 4.6 stops and interceptions every game on average.
In an ideal world, Real Madrid would want an experienced, top-level player like Davies at left back. However, they can make an exception for Locko because he is so good in so many areas.
He has a lot of the same skills as Davies and is exactly what Real Madrid wants in a left back. But he could be a lot cheaper, not that he would be THAT cheap.
José Gαyà, Valencia
Real Madrid has always been interested in José Gαyà because, in terms of reputation, he is the best left back in La Liga. That being said, Valencia probably will never want to sell him because he is so important to the team.
Gαyà is probably the best choice on this list because he’s good at everything and has been a top player in LaLiga for years. He’ll keep putting up good numbers in 2023–24.
Sergi Cardona, Las Palmas
As a new player who was already getting attention, Sergi Cardona has made a big splash for Las Palmas in LaLiga. New teams always add a lot of excitement to the Spanish top flight.
Even though Cardona is still a sєcret superstar, clubs are beginning to notice him as the summer 2024 transfer rumors start to swirl. Even though Real Madrid should hire someone with more experience, Cardona should still be on the list.
He makes a big difference on offense by completing 1.2 key passes and drawing 1.8 fouls per game, for a total of 4.6 stops and interceptions per game.
Theo Hernández, Milan
It would be great for Real Madrid to get back together with Theo Hernández because he is one of the best left backs in the world when you look at his technical skills and his ability to win games straight on the offєnsive end.
Hernández has made amazing goals by himself for AC Milan, becoming a leader and getting better at defense. It would be wrong to think that he is as good of a defender as Davies or Locko, but he’s not as bad either.
In 2023–24, Hernández hasn’t been as good as he could be, but he’s still been pretty good. He’s been held back by some problems in the team, especially with the defense.
Hernández is a good driving left back that Real Madrid should take a chance on if they can get a fair price and improve their center backs. But in order for his attacks to be fully successful, he needs a strong center defense system.
