On Monday night, during his brief appearance at FIFA’s The Best award event, Pep Guardiola dropped the ‘F-bomb’ live on the television.
The Spanish player was present on stage to receive the FIFA Men’s Coach of 2023 trophy following Man City’s historic Triple Crown victory in the 2022–2023 season.
For the first time in his career, host and former Barcelona player Thierry Henry posed a fascinating question to Guardiola as he accepted the prize.

Guardiola was asked to pick between his current Man City side and his old Barcelona team
‘The last time that so many players were in the World XI was with you, when you were the coach of Barcelona. In 2010, you had six players on that team. So, between the two teams, which is superior?
Guardiola tried to elucidate the query by posing it as, “Who would win?” “No, the best,” Henry retorted. You can be the best even if you lost a game’.
The City CEO then hesitated for a second and exclaimed: ‘before jokingly lowering his head into his hands.
“I don’t know, that would be a good game,” he continued. I’m not sure; both teams are amazing, to be honest. We were so young at that incredible time in Barcelona.
But this club too plays in the Premier League in England, which is really difficult and competitive for many other championships. These guys are there season after season, even after winning the treble.
“The best award I can get as a manager is by far being with them—not winning or losing—you wake up in the morning just to prepare and dream.”

With City teammates Ruben Dias and Kyle Walker standing next to him on stage, it’s understandable why the Spaniard was hesitant to fall on either side of the fence.
Coworkers John Stones, Bernardo Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, and Erling Haaland joined them in the starting lineup for this season, and Thibaut Courtois, Jude Bellingham, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Vinicius Jr. completed the elite group.
Six of Guardiola’s players were also on the 2010 team, as Henry indicated. The sole remaining member of the all-star squad from more than ten years ago is Messi.
He was joined by Blaugrana colleagues David Villa, Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Carlos Puyol and Gerard Pique in a season that would conclude in the LaLiga giants capturing their first European treble.
The significant signings of Maicon, Lucio, Iker Casillas, Wesley Sneijder, and Cristiano Ronaldo completed that squad.
