Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe has shared insights into his close relationship with NBA star LeBron James, highlighting that he frequently seeks career advice from the basketball icon. The connection between Mbappe and James dates back to 2018 when they first met at a Nike event in New York.
Since then, the bond between the two athletes has strengthened, with Mbappe expressing admiration for James, who, in addition to his basketball career, is an investor in Fenway Sports Group, the company that owns Liverpool FC.
Mbappe’s revelation has sparked speculation about a potential move to Liverpool, although PSG is actively pursuing a contract renewal with an offer valued at £86.15 million per season.
As a prominent figure in French football, Mbappe captains the national team and leads the line for PSG. Despite the departure of Neymar and Lionel Messi, the club has retained Mbappe’s services. Both Mbappe and James, connected through their association with Nike, share a mutual respect, and Mbappe emphasizes James’ significant influence on his career decisions.
“He has a much more advanced career than I do, and projects outside sport that have cemented his place as a legend,” Mbappe shared with GQ Magazine. “Being able to seek advice from such inspiring personalities allows me to shape my projects effectively for today’s young people.”
