Manchester United eye Bayer Leverkusen’s Odilon Kossounou for summer transfer

Manchester United is keen on securing the services of Odilon Kossounou, the Bayer Leverkusen defender, in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The links between Odilon Kossounou and Manchester United, along with a player profile and analysis, suggest the likelihood of United acquiring a new center back at the end of the season. With uncertainties surrounding the futures of Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof, coupled with considerations about Harry Maguire’s long-term suitability, the pursuit of defensive reinforcements seems imperative.

Liverpool is also reportedly interested in a £30 million target linked with Manchester United, creating a competitive environment for defensive acquisitions.

Among the center-backs linked with United, Odilon Kossounou from Bayer Leverkusen emerges as a new addition to the list. Although not the top priority currently, United is reported to have an interest in Kossounou, with plans to pursue the transfer in the summer, according to Sky Florian Plettenberg in Germany.

Kossounou, standing at 6 feet 3 inches, emerged as one of the latest stars from ASEC Mimosas, gaining recognition as a young player before making a move to Hammarby in Sweden in 2019. Despite a brief stint in Sweden, featuring in only 13 games for Hammarby, he swiftly transitioned to Club Brugge in Belgium.
