Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk was seen working at the McDonald’s drive-thru, distributing McFlurry frozen yogurts

Liverpool’s defensive stalwart, Virgil van Dijk, surprised fans this week when he was spotted working at the drive-thru window of the Kirkby McDonald’s, distributing McFlurry frozen yogurts. While van Dijk is renowned for his on-field performances for Liverpool, it appears he can also lend a hand at serving fast food to car-bound customers.

The Dutch center-back, who has been with Liverpool since his £75 million move from Southampton in January 2018, is actively involved in the community. However, customers heading to Kirkby McDonald’s for a quick bite this week likely didn’t anticipate encountering the towering 6ft 5in football star at the drive-thru window.

Footage shared on social media captured van Dijk assisting McDonald’s staff by taking and passing orders through the window. Unsurprisingly, a crowd gathered, with curious onlookers, especially kids, peering through the glass to catch a glimpse of the Liverpool star.

Dressed in casual attire – a jumper, trousers, and trainers – van Dijk was then seen handing out trays of McFlurries to those waiting. His impromptu appearance at McDonald’s sparked many online comments from amused fans.

“He got the ice cream machine to work at Maccies. There truly is nothing he can’t do,” joked one commenter. Another added, “Getting a McFlurry off Virgil. The stuff dreams are made of.”

While it remains unclear why the 31-year-old was at McDonald’s, it seems unlikely that he’s changing career paths ahead of Liverpool’s final game of the season against Southampton on Sunday.
