The English League Cup semi-final second leg between Fulham and Liverpool ended in a 1-1 draw. This result was just enough for The Kop to enter the final against Chelsea. Because they won 2-1 in the first leg at home, Liverpool was full of confidence when marching to Fulham’s field in the second leg. The Kop pressed forward to attack from the first minutes and created a series of dangerous plays.
By the 11th minute, the away team had opened the scoring. Midfielder Quansah flicked the ball from home to Luis Diaz. The Colombian player entered the penalty area before shooting into the near corner. The ball slightly changed direction and even though Leno touched it, the ball still hit the post and went into the net.
Having scored the goal, Liverpool played even more excitedly and continuously bombarded Leno’s goal. On the opposite side, Fulham also had a few counterattacks but could not score a goal. The first half ended with the score 1-0 in favor of The Kop.
Entering the second half, the double-header was still maintained. But it wasn’t until the 77th minute that the goal came and it belonged to home team Fulham.
Substitute Harry Wilson dribbled past Liverpool right-back Conor Bradley before crossing inside. The ball hit Quansah and changed direction towards the near post, where Diop got ahead of Van Dijk to cushion the net with his thigh.
That was also the last goal of this match. The two teams drew 1-1 and Liverpool won the right to enter the final with a total score of 3-2. Their opponent will be Chelsea.
