Bruno Fernandes and Rasmus Hojlund frustrated with Alejandro Garnacho

Wingers Alejandro Garnacho’s decision to take a shot instead of crossing the ball has left Bruno Fernandes and Rasmus Hojlund irritated. They believe that a simple touch from them would have created a better goal-scoring opportunity.

Manchester United took an early 2-0 lead in the fourth round of the FA Cup against Newport, a League Two team, courtesy of goals from Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo. The Red Devils had a chance to extend their lead to 3-0 in the 19th minute when Alejandro Garnacho missed the target.

The Argentine winger had the option to pass the ball across the goal for either Bruno Fernandes or Rasmus Hojlund to tap it in, but instead, he decided to take a shot, resulting in a missed opportunity.

Following Garnacho’s effort and the ball hitting the crossbar, Fernandes and Hojlund showed their frustration. Both players were dissatisfied with the young Argentine’s decision. Danny Murphy, a BBC commentator, remarked, “Fernandes is frustrated, and I think he’s right. If Garnacho had crossed the ball, Fernandes or Hojlund could have easily tapped it in, and the game would have been sealed. He was a bit greedy. If Garnacho had put the ball inside, it would have been a goal, 3-0, and the game would have been over.”

Meanwhile, Murphy also praised defender Luke Shaw, stating, “I always think Manchester United play better with Shaw in the team. He defends well, remains composed on the ball, and contributes effectively going forward. They missed him a lot, but now Shaw has returned from injury and will be playing regularly week in and week out.”
