With his recent goal for Manchester United, Rasmus Hojlund shattered a longstanding record previously held by Cristiano Ronaldo. In Thursday night’s 4-3 victory over Wolves, the Danish player secured a goal, doubling United’s lead after assisting Rashford’s fifth-minute goal at Molineux.
This achievement marks the second consecutive game in which Hojlund both scored and assisted in the Premier League, making him the youngest player in Manchester United’s history to accomplish this feat at just 20 years and 362 days old.
The previous record, set in 2007 by Cristiano Ronaldo at 21 years old, has now been surpassed by Hojlund. Additionally, Hojlund’s goal against Wolves was the first in the league where a United teammate contributed to his scoring effort.
Previously, the 20-year-old expressed frustration about not receiving adequate support from his teammates, notably seen during the FA Cup win over Newport when he voiced his displeasure at Alejandro Garnacho for not picking him out.
However, Hojlund’s recent performances have silenced any doubts, as he has now scored in three consecutive Premier League games. Since joining from Atalanta in the summer, he has accumulated nine goals and provided two assists in 27 games for Manchester United.
