In apparent response to a direct message from a Chelsea fan expressing criticism, Mykhailo Mudryk appears to propose a £10,000 1v1 challenge.
Facing derogatory comments about his recent performances, the Ukrainian winger seemingly reacted strongly to a Chelsea fan’s direct messages on social media. Chelsea, managed by Mauricio Pochettino, had a challenging week, culminating in a 4-2 home loss to Wolves on Sunday.
After receiving offensive remarks regarding his recent displays, Mudryk seemed to respond with irritation. Chelsea had a chance to bounce back from their 4-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday when Cole Palmer calmly tapped home the opening goal of the game following Moises Caicedo’s first goal contribution for the club.
However, the mood quickly soured when, three minutes later, Caicedo made a careless pass that allowed Wolves to equalize. This triggered a resurgence from Wolves, leading them to a 4-2 victory (with a four-goal advantage following Mаtheus Cunhа’s hаt trick) with just five minutes remaining.
In the aftermath of the defeat at Anfield, not only did Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez deactivate their social media accounts due to abuse, but other Chelsea players have also been targeted by online trolls since a comment attributed to Mudryk’s account gained attention.
After the humiliating loss at Anfield, an unidentified self-proclaimed prophet commented on Instagram, asking, “Did you forget how to play football?” and suggesting one-on-one sessions might be beneficial. In response, Mudryk proposed a 1v1 game for £10,000, initially promising a personal cash reward for every goal scored. The user, however, changed their stance.
Mudryk responded by questioning the user’s football skills, to which the account simply requested, “Score for us please.” Mudryk, entering the game as a second-half substitute, assisted Thiago Silva’s consolation goal against Wolves. So far this season, he has contributed to seven goals in 25 game
