Victor Osimhen is prioritizing a move to the Premier League, influenced by former Chelsea player Didier Drogba

Reports indicate that Victor Osimhen, the striker for Napoli, is poised to join Chelsea in the upcoming summer transfer window, as both clubs are prepared to reach an agreement. Chelsea has been actively searching for a top-class center-forward throughout the season, with Osimhen emerging as their primary target.

While they have also shown interest in Ivan Toney, his age and high asking price have presented obstacles to a potential move to Stamford Bridge. However, sources have confirmed that Osimhen is highly likely to make the switch to Chelsea.

Osimhen is receptive to an approach from the London club and is willing to establish a pre-agreement this month, which would finalize the transfer in the summer. It has been reported that a pre-agreement is the only way a deal can be reached during this transfer window, as the Nigerian international recently signed a new contract with Napoli that includes a release clause of approximately £112 million. If a transfer were to occur this month, Napoli would demand this fee.

Multiple sources in Italy anticipate some developments in the coming weeks and believe that this will be Osimhen’s final season wearing the jersey of the Serie A champions. Former Chelsea players Didier Drogba and John Obi-Mikel have been in contact with Osimhen, endorsing the club’s project to the striker.

There is mounting pressure on Chelsea to act swiftly, as more clubs are likely to enter the race for Osimhen’s signature in the summer. Mauricio Pochettino’s team faced a similar situation last summer when they signed Enzo Fernandez from Benfica.

If the transfer goes through, Osimhen will become one of the highest-paid players at Chelsea. Manager Mauricio Pochettino has been urging the board to add more experienced players to his young squad, and acquiring Osimhen comes at a significant cost. The striker has been in impressive form for Napoli, scoring seven goals in 13 league games this season and providing two assists. He has remained a favorite among the fans at the club.
