Manchester United’s latest signing, Rasmus Hojlund, has fulfilled his childhood dream of playing for the club. The £72 million striker has a remarkable story to support his claim, as he wrote a statement at the age of 10 outlining his goals of representing the Danish national team and joining Manchester United. Less than a decade later, both dreams have become a reality, marking a significant triumph for the determined Danish player.
Hojlund shared his childhood letter with TV2 Sport, where he expressed his aspirations. In September, he earned his first senior cap for the Danish national team, accomplishing the first part of his dream. Despite last-minute interest from PSG, Manchester United successfully resisted and completed his signing from Atalanta, fulfilling the second part of his ambitious goal.
According to Hojlund, the key to his success lies in having big dreams and the courage to pursue them. He believes that without these qualities, one cannot achieve their objectives. “It’s rare to have everything come together so perfectly, but with me and Manchester United, I’d say it’s an ideal match,” expressed Hojlund. ”
The club is going through an exciting process, and I want to be a part of it. That’s why I made the decision to move here at this time. I believe I can develop alongside the team, and hopefully, we can win numerous trophies together.”
The Copenhagen-born striker also shared a heartwarming photo of himself as a young student wearing Manchester United shirts alongside his younger brothers, Emil and Oscar. While his siblings wore red shirts, Hojlund proudly sported black ones.
He fondly recalled being devoted to United from a very young age. “Ten-year-old Rasmus would probably be ‘buzzing,’ as they say here in England,” Holland added, continuing, “He set himself a goal, and I’m glad he pursued it.”
