Tuesday night, Manchester City beat Luton Town 6-2 behind five goals from Erling Haaland.
After Kevin De Bruyne cut back from the left flank, the striker scored from close range to break the tie in the third minute.
Teden Mengi of Luton had held his own against Haaland, matching him in strength and power in one-on-one matches, but the City attacker prevailed and increased his team’s lead after eighteen minutes.
Once more, it was created by De Bruyne, who took it from Haaland midway and put it back into the Norwegian’s stride. With unwavering coolness, he leaped over Mengi and rammed it through Tim Krul’s legs.
Erling Haaland made history as he scored five goals in Man City’s FA Cup win over Luton
When De Bruyne sent Haaland clear and he clipped the ball over the advancing keeper, he almost scored his hat-trick.
On the last second of the half, Luton suddenly created a commotion among the home supporters with a spectacular finish that Clark sent spinning into Stefan Ortega’s top corner from 25 yards out.
They attacked City fiercely at the beginning of the second half, just as the holders had started the game, and they were rewarded early on. Although the angle was tricky, Clark managed to go closer to the goal this time.
He appeared to be going for a shot across the goalkeeper, but instead he blasted it past Ortega and into the near post for a 3-2 victory.
Kenilworth Road was left with a mere three minutes to dream. That was all it took for Haaland to score the fourth goal of the game and for his team, with De Bruyne once again setting up the easy tap-in.

Haaland got his fifth when his low shot went straight through Krul in the 58th minute
His fifth was tough on Krul, a left-foot shot that twisted past the goalie as if he was delusional from City’s relentless attack. In less than 60 minutes, Haaland had scored five goals.
In the 72nd minute, Kovacic increased Luton’s suffering by adding his name to the scoresheet.
When Haaland was taken off in the last moments, there was at least a late relief. That night had been his and City’s.
In the 52nd minute, Clark added another goal, and De Bruyne and Haaland collaborated once more to make the score 4-2.
And in the 58th minute, the 23-year-old extended City’s lead to three goals with his fifth goal, which Bernardo Silva assisted.
Since George Best scored six goals for Man United against Northampton in 1970, Haaland has scored the most goals in an FA Cup tie.
Additionally, he made history by becoming the first Man City player to score five goals in an FA Cup game since Frank Roberts did it in an 11-4 thumping of Crystal Palace almost a century ago (1926).
