Former Liverpool star Fernando Torres has explained why he was recently seen during a workout session wearing a Trent Alexander-Arnold Liverpool shirt.
Torres, who is highly regarded by Liverpool fans for his contributions during his time at Anfield, expressed his admiration for Alexander-Arnold and described him as a “special player.”
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Torres praised the young defender’s development and his importance to the team. He drew parallels between Alexander-Arnold’s rise and his own journey from the stands to the pitch at Atletico Madrid, emphasizing the special connection he felt with the fans.
Torres also expressed his desire to have played alongside Alexander-Arnold and experience his exceptional crosses firsthand. Alexander-Arnold, who has established himself as one of the world’s top right backs, has made over 300 appearances for Liverpool and has been influential with his assists.
Although currently sidelined with a knee injury, he is expected to return for the end-of-season fixtures. Torres, now the coach of Atletico Madrid’s Under-19 team, is set to feature at Anfield in the Liverpool Legends match against Ajax Legends.
