Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez said he looks to Luis Suarez to improve and considers him an “idol” and a “great example”.

Ahead of this weekend’s Premier League showdown with Brighton, the Uruguayan forward, who has netted ten goals across EPL this season, granted an interview to ‘Sky Sports.’

“Obviously, I still have a lot of things to improve, such as my finishing, but I think the same thing happened to Suarez and in his second year he excelled,” said Nunez.

“Something similar happened to me at Benfica. The first year was average, but in the second I excelled. Here, I hope the same thing will happen. I hope next season will be better. I’m going to do my best and I hope to have a bit of luck.

Nunez elaborated that Suarez reached out to him following his dismissal against Crystal Palace, and they have maintained regular communication ever since.

“It always helps to talk to Suarez. For me, he’s an idol, he’s a great example. In the national team now I have a much better relationship with him. We always talk and he always gives me advice. I try to keep in touch with him a lot. I ask him a lot of things because he was at Liverpool and he has a lot more experience than me.
