Alexis Mac Allister gave special praise to Jarell Quansah following the centre-back’s contribution to Liverpool’s hard-earned 2-1 victory over the weekend.
In another stellar performance, Quansah stood out for Liverpool with impressive statistics, including the highest number of touches (122), accurate passes (98), and interceptions (four) as they narrowly defeated Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield on Sunday. This victory propelled Jürgen Klopp’s team to the top of the Premier League table in their quest for the title, earning praise from Mac Allister for Quansah’s significant contribution.
“He was amazing,” the Argentinian told Liverpoolfc.com after the victory.
“The job he did with Virg [Virgil van Dijk] is so important for the team because it gives us that calmness that we need to play football.
“Even on the ball he was amazing. Very happy and very glad for him.”
Mac Allister’s standout performance earned him the Carlsberg Player of the Match award from fans. His noteworthy contribution included a pivotal and smart assist for Mohamed Salah in the second half, securing a comeback victory after Luis Diaz equalized Danny Welbeck’s opener for Brighton before halftime.
Following Manchester City’s draw with Arsenal on Sunday, Liverpool now holds a two-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.
On the team’s targets for the final weeks of the campaign and Klopp’s reign, Mac Allister added: “We need to go game by game. We need to focus on ourselves, not other teams.
“The team is there – we want to win trophies this season because we want to make it special as well for Jürgen. We are in a good way and we want to keep it like that.”
