Update the latest injury news : Diogo Jota, Andy Robertson, Curtis Jones are ready to return

Latest Liverpool injury news as Jurgen Klopp is expected to provide an injury update on his squad ahead of the Premier League clash against Sheffield United this week.

Diogo Jota of Liverpool

The Portuguese player is recovering very well

Liverpool will resume Premier League action on Thursday night as they welcome Sheffield United to Anfield.

The Reds head into the match following a 2-1 victory over Brighton on Easter Sunday, which propelled them back to the top of the Premier League table after Arsenal’s draw with Manchester City.

Jurgen Klopp’s side aims to retain their position at the league’s summit as they take on Sheffield United in the midweek fixture. Before this encounter, Arsenal will entertain Luton Town and City will confront Aston Villa at home, both matches scheduled for Wednesday night.

Curtis Jones

Curtis Jones has been out of action due to an ankle injury he suffered against Brentford on February 17th.

Jones has been gradually increasing his recovery efforts, notably during the international break. Klopp suggested on Sunday that Jones might be close to making a comeback and could feature in the matchday squad soon.

“In full training is Curtis,” Klopp said about Jones after the win over Brighton. “So he trained with us on Saturday but then had an extra [session] because the minus-1 session (day before the game) is not the intensity that Curtis needed.

“So he was with us and then had an extra shift. So he will be in full training but then exactly for the game let me have a look on that. All the others, slowly but surely but not yet [for Thursday].”

Potential return date: Sheffield United (H) – April 4

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Trent Alexander-Arnold is optimistic about returning to action “in the next couple of weeks.”

Since February 10, Alexander-Arnold has been absent from Liverpool’s lineup but is steadily approaching his comeback. Here’s an update on his return to action, the defender said: “If everything keeps going right then I should be back in the next couple of weeks.”

Potential return date: April

Alisson Becker

Alisson Becker has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since early February.

Following the defeat to Arsenal on February 4, the goalkeeper has been absent from Liverpool’s lineup, with Caiomhin Kelleher taking his place. Currently, there’s no specified timeframe for Alisson’s return to the matchday squad.

Potential return date: Unknown

Diogo Jota

Diogo Jota has been sidelined for Liverpool since the victory against Brentford on February 17 due to a knee injury.

Despite gradually increasing his recovery efforts in recent weeks, Jota was unavailable for the win over Brighton. The forward is also unlikely to participate in the upcoming match against Sheffield United. Klopp is expected to provide an update on his status later this week.

Potential return date: April

Andy Robertson

Andy Robertson was absent from Liverpool’s victory over Brighton due to an ankle injury he sustained while on international duty with Scotland.

Fortunately, Robertson’s injury doesn’t appear to be as severe as initially feared. Nonetheless, it remains uncertain when the left-back will be available for selection in Liverpool’s matchday squad.

Potential return date: April

Ibrahima Konate

Ibrahima Konate was sidelined for Liverpool’s four matches preceding the international break due to a muscle injury.

While on international duty, Konate represented France, and although he was on the bench for Liverpool’s victory over Brighton, he did not take the field. Klopp will be eager to have the defender fully fit and available for the upcoming match against Sheffield United on Thursday night.

Potential return date: Sheffield United (H) – April 4

Thiago Alcantara

Thiago Alcantara has played just five minutes of football for Liverpool this season and is currently recovering from a hamstring injury.

The midfielder featured in the closing stages of Liverpool’s defeat to Arsenal on February 4 but has not played a single minute since due to injury. It remains to be seen if and when Thiago will return to the matchday squad this season.

Potential return date: Unknown

Stefan Bajcetic

Stefan Bajcetic’s playing time for Liverpool this season has been limited to just two appearances due to injury, with his last match dating back to last September.

In recent weeks, Bajcetic has been focusing on gradually regaining his fitness, and Klopp has confirmed that he is currently training with the Under-21s squad. The timing of Bajcetic’s return to first-team training is still uncertain.

“Football brain wise he [Bajcetic] is a natural, he’s not lost anything there, but rhythm is something else,” said Klopp on March 29. “He is in partial training with the U21s and will be in full training with the U21s next week. Then after that he will join our training. That’s the plan. Then we will see.”

Potential return date: Late April/May

Joel Matip

Joel Matip is currently in recovery from an ACL injury he suffered against Fulham in early December.

Due to the severity of the injury, the centre-back is anticipated to be out of action for the rest of the season. With his contract expiring at the end of the campaign, it’s uncertain whether Matip will play for Liverpool again.

Potential return date: Unknown

Ben Doak

Ben Doak has been sidelined with a knee injury since December, which he sustained during a game for the Under-21s.

Liverpool has not provided a timeframe for Doak’s return to action, and there have been no recent updates on the 18-year-old’s recovery.
