Liverpool regained top spot after defeating Sheffield United 3-1

Liverpool returned to the top of the Premier League table with a 3-1 victory over Sheffield United at Anfield on Thursday night.

Darwin Nunez handed the Reds an early advantage when Ivo Grbic’s attempted clearance from a backpass ricocheted off him and crossed the line 17 minutes into the game.

Despite the hosts dominating possession, their lead was short-lived as Gustavo Hamer unintentionally redirected a cross off Conor Bradley and into the net shortly after halftime.

However, any concerns of dropping points were dispelled when Alexis Mac Allister rifled Liverpool back into the lead with 13 minutes left in regulation time, capitalizing on a deflected clearance at the edge of the box.

Cody Gakpo sealed the victory by nodding in an Andy Robertson cross from 15 yards out in the 90th minute, propelling the Reds back to the summit of the standings, two points clear of Arsenal.
