Davies + Musiala brothers đ€ The duo carrying the drip game at Bayern đ§ Not for much longer tho, Davies to Madrid đâȘïž
Double interview with Phonsiala: ‘Every Bayern generation has its opportunities’. Theyâre practically family, so they say: Alphonso Davies and Jamal Musiala explain in this interview what’s important about their friendship, what quality they’d like to have from each other and what aims they have as Bayern’s “next gen”.
Interview with Alphonso Davies and Jamal Musiala
Alphonso and Jamal For 2023, what are your objectives?Alphonso Davies: “I obviously want to win every title with the team, including the DFB Cup and the 11th consecutive league title. We also have our sights set on the Champions League.” The desire to triumph in every competition we enter is ingrained in FC Bayern’s DNA. Winning is the only thing that matters when we on the field. That appeals to me and motivates me. Personally, I want to support the team and avoid getting hurt. One or two goals would satisfy me, and I’d also like to contribute more assists.
Jamal Musiala: “I just want to underline everything. We have the players and the caliber of team, in my opinion, to reach the greatest standards. We ought to never give up trying to get better. Both the team and I agree with it; I’m constantly looking for more. More assists and more goals. I want to help the two of us accomplish our goals.
What does friendship generally mean to you?AD: “Being able to rely on one another and being there for one another is what matters most to me.” Both on and off the field, Jamal and I get along great. We can laugh together and have a great mutual understanding, which is vital when you spend a lot of time together.
JM: “Phonzy can make you laugh a lot. I find that having him around is always enjoyable. That’s just the way he is. I think it’s crucial for a friendship to be able to discuss anything with one another. It seems like Phonzy is practically family.
Alphonso: What makes Jamal so awesome?AD muses, “Wow, how do I respond to that? When you’re close to him, he carries you along as his own person. Jamal exudes positive energy at all times.
Whether itâs at training camp, SĂ€bener StraĂe or on their travels â the two friends are a familiar duo.
Is there anything you would like Alphonso to have, Jamal? For example, he moves fairly quickly.JM: “Is that a trait specific to you? Allow me to ponder for a moment before continuing. It’s simply his candor. Phonzy is at ease all the time. I believe that due of his special qualities, he finds it simple to let go of pressure or unfavorable ideas. Anything that could agitate him is kept out of his reach. He’s always up for a good time, but he also knows when to give up. The aspect of him that I’d like to have is his openness to life.
AD: “All right, I’ve always felt that’s the exact quality I want to get from you (laughs). Let me ponder for a moment: I suppose I would like Jamal’s trust. He approaches whatever he does with a keen awareness of doing things right. Whether it’s engaging in regular activities like playing football. That is quite remarkable, particularly considering his age. At that age, I wasn’t nearly as far along as he is.
You stated on social media last autumn that although Jamal didn’t win the Kopa Trophy for best young player, he would still be able to win the Ballon d’Or in the future.AD: “Yeah, that was important to me since I firmly believe that.” Just take a peek at this boy! He is currently, in my opinion, among the finest players in the worldâpossibly the best in his age group. He would have been worthy of the Kopa Trophy, all due respect to the others. And with his extraordinary talent, desire, and perseverance, I picture him winning the Ballon d’Or at some point. Jamal’s potential is boundless if he keeps up his current pace from the last few months.
“Every compliment I receive encourages and motivates me to keep developing and bettering myself. Nobody on the earth has ever accomplished great things just because someone else thought well of them.
When a teammate makes such a statement about you, how does it make you feel?JM: It just makes me want to give him a hug. Although it’s clearly good to hear something like that, I can’t take a moment to relax because I’m just getting started. Every compliment I receive encourages and motivates me to keep developing and bettering. Nobody on this earth has accomplished anything noteworthy merely because someone else expressed admiration for them. Phonzy struck the mark when he remarked, “The sky is the limit.” To reach your goals, you should not place any boundaries on yourself; instead, you should have faith in your abilities and give it your all each and every day. You will then receive a gift one day.
You recently stated in an interview that your goal is to rank among the world’s top golfers. That’s what “Mia san mia” means.JM: “You learn to always believe in oneself and aim for the best at FC Bayern. That identity appeals to me greatly since it aligns with my mentality. In my opinion, taking a false approach is if you don’t think you can be the best. I’ve always wanted to take the next step since I was a young child, and as you advance, your confidence does too. I have to have confidence in my ability to score goals, dribble, and perform all tasks in order to play my best. I’m not going to back down.
Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies have fun together on and off the pitch â but also know that theyâre only at the start of their development.
Youâre both young, popular figures and well-liked among the fans. What does that mean to you, particularly considering that youâre big role models for children?AD: âIt means a lot to me personally, and I think itâs the same for Jamal. Itâs not that long ago that both of us were looking up to others as kids, so we only know too well what a big responsibility we have now. Iâd particularly like to convey to young people that you should always be yourself in whatever you do. Enjoy every single moment that you have in life, particularly with your family and friends. And use your opportunities, be it in football or elsewhere. The key thing in my eyes is always that you stay true to yourself, that you enjoy what you do â and that you have fun doing it. I always try to have a smile on my face. Thatâs how you transmit happiness to others. Iâm incredibly grateful for everything that life has given me so far.â
JM: âEnjoying what you do is the basis for being able to do it well. I also find it important to always have your head up: what do you dream of, what are your goals, how can you achieve them? I want to inspire people. They should have fun when they watch us â and the kids in particular should feel that anything is possible when you give your all. If you do that, there are no limits in football nor in life.â
Weâve spoken about FC Bayernâs identity. Manuel Neuer and Thomas MĂŒller have shaped the club for a decade, then came Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka â and then you two. Are you the next generation who will live and pass on the âMia san miaâ?AD: âBeing Bayernâs ânext genâ is always the aim. Weâre still very young, weâre gaining experiences and see it as privilege to be able to learn from Manu, Thomas, Jo, Leon and the others. They too were starting out once and took a lot from Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Franck RibĂ©ry or Arjen Robben. These players put their boots on every day and go onto the pitch to not even lose a training game. Itâs our job to take on that spirit, live it and carry it on.â
JM: âWe are the boys who want to reach the top with FC Bayern. I learn from my teammates every day, and in the end it’s about winning titles together. At FC Bayern, every generation has its opportunities.â
