Coach Ten Hag affirmed that he has no doubt that he will continue to lead Man United next season.
One week ago, Ten Hag stated that he wasn’t concerned about rumors linking Manchester United to coach Gareth Southgate. And in a recent press conference, Ten Hag continued to express confidence in his own future, despite Manchester United’s recent devastating loss to Chelsea.
“I have no doubt. I am just focusing on my work, focusing on this process, on this project. I really enjoy being here. I am very happy. For me, this is a challenge.”
At the end of March, there were rumors that Manchester United still hadn’t made a final decision about Ten Hag’s future. Currently, the Red Devils are still planning for the next season with Ten Hag, including transfer activities and pre-season plans.
However, since then, Manchester United has consistently conceded last-minute goals in the Premier League. They have drifted further away from the Champions League qualifying positions for the next season.
Ahead of the major clash with Liverpool in the Premier League, Manchester United is currently in 6th place, trailing 9 points behind 5th-placed Tottenham. Their goal difference of -1 also doesn’t aid their competitiveness.
Despite this, Ten Hag still believes Manchester United is heading in the right direction.
“You can’t always be heading in the right direction. Not every result goes as desired. But I believe we are heading in the right direction and we will reach where we want to be.”
