Man United winger Antony is aiming to redeem himself at Old Trafford after a poor start to his Premier League career.
On Tuesday, Manchester United winger Antony returned to the gym, determined to continue his journey towards redemption at Old Trafford.
The Brazilian forward was one of Erik ten Hag’s inaugural signings when he arrived from Ajax in the summer of 2022. Despite a promising start in front of goal, his form gradually declined as the season progressed.
Unfortunately, this season has been particularly challenging for the 24-year-old, with issues both on and off the pitch impacting his performances. However, Antony showed signs of resurgence last Thursday night by providing a superb outside-of-the-boot cross for Alejandro Garnacho against Chelsea, marking his first assist of the season and contributing to a strong display from the South American player.
Antony returned to the bench for the weekend’s draw against Liverpool, but he replaced Marcus Rashford with just under 30 minutes remaining. Ahead of the match against the Merseyside club, Ten Hag recognized the forward’s enhanced performance.
“I know he is capable it [of playing like he did vs Chelsea],” Ten Hag told MUTV. “I’ve seen it so often when I was manager at Ajax but we haven’t since this [at United].
“Maybe in the start, we have seen glimpses in the first three games where he scored three goals. But after that, incidentally, like against Barcelona last season where he scored the winning goal.
“But he’s capable of it. On Thursday night, I saw the Antony I want to see.”
ntony is keen to put in the effort as evidenced on his Instagram on Tuesday where he posted pictures of himself working out in the gym. He captioned one of the story entries: “Work.”
