Four issues Man United faced after the draw against Bournemouth

Bruno Fernandes scored a double to rescue Man United from a defeat against Bournemouth, but Erik ten Hag clearly couldn’t be satisfied with his players.

Manchester United’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next season seem to have vanished after a 2-2 draw against Bournemouth in the 33rd round of the Premier League.

This draw extended their winless streak to 4 games, as they previously failed to defeat Brentford, Chelsea, and Liverpool. The dismal run of form has seen Ten Hag’s team drop to 7th place in the Premier League, trailing Aston Villa and Tottenham by 10 points.

Garnacho and Ten Hag

Alejandro Garnacho liked a social media post criticizing Ten Hag after the Argentine player was substituted in the first half of the match against Bournemouth.

Garnacho lost possession leading to Bournemouth’s opening goal. Despite assisting Fernandes for the first equalizer, Ten Hag still decided to ruthlessly substitute the player.

After the match, the Argentine international liked two posts criticizing Ten Hag. The first post read: “Garnacho has been one of our standout players this season. Many have played worse week in and week out and still remained on the pitch.”

The second post – written by the same user – stated: “Ten Hag subtly blamed Garnacho in the post-match press conference. It’s not right to throw a 19-year-old under the bus, especially one who has truly saved you this season.”

Bruno Fernandes got into an argument with Onana

Ten Hag asserted that Fernandes “acted like a captain” in the match against Bournemouth. Earlier, the Portuguese midfielder was found to be in a heated exchange with Andre Onana in the first half.

Before Solanke put Bournemouth ahead, Fernandes argued with Onana about some long passes. The former Inter Milan goalkeeper stood firm, while Fernandes declined Ten Hag’s request to calm down.

After the match, Ten Hag commented on the situation: “Bruno Fernandes scored 2 goals, very creative, indeed he brought a lot of energy to the team. He played the role of a captain, bringing energy, and we are very pleased with that.

We are all disappointed, but Bruno Fernandes expressed that feeling. We have to win our matches and have dropped too many unnecessary points in recent games.

Improve the defense

Diogo Dalot has highlighted an issue that Ten Hag needs to identify and address. The Portuguese international criticized the fact that Man United had to endure too many shots.

“The Red Devils” allowed Bournemouth to unleash a total of 20 shots at Vitality. In the first half, Ten Hag’s side conceded their 565th shot in the Premier League this season, the highest since the 2003-2004 campaign. And there are still 6 matches left in the tournament.

Dalot told Sky Sports: “That’s one of our concerns. We need to try to become a tighter team, not creating too much space between the defenders and midfielders.”

The decline of Casemiro

Casemiro has produced another disappointing performance in a Manchester United shirt. After impressing last season, the Brazilian midfielder is struggling with injuries and fitness issues.

Former footballer Jamie Redknapp expressed serious concerns about the possibility of the Brazilian midfielder becoming a bad example for young players like Kobbie Mainoo.

“In my opinion, Casemiro is not a suitable role model for the young players around him. Watching Casemiro play, it feels like he’s participating in a charity match.

This is the Premier League. Even as an experienced player, you still need to move explosively. He should be more aggressive to help the team. But I don’t understand why he’s not doing that,” Redknapp said.
