After an impressive start to the season, Dominik Szoboszlai has gradually lost form and delivered performances below expectations recently.
Dominik Szoboszlai shares about difficulties at Liverpool
Newcomer Dominik Szoboszlai had an impressive start to the season in Liverpool’s colors. However, that period did not last long. The Hungarian player gradually lost form in recent matches and faced much criticism from fans.
Part of the reason for Szoboszlai’s recent decline in form is due to an injury earlier this year. Additionally, Szoboszlai admitted that he set too high a standard for himself.
The 24-year-old midfielder shared with MLSZTV: “The good start gave me great confidence. But perhaps because of that, I set too high a standard for myself, and in some matches, I couldn’t show my best qualities.”
Dominik Szoboszlai has not been in good form recently
There are times when you don’t play well, and in the eyes of people outside the pitch, you become the worst player on the team. But that’s not a problem; Liverpool has overcome such issues together.
I am here to help the team aim for the Premier League title. In England, players don’t have much time to think when they receive the ball like in the Bundesliga. In this league, you have to know what you need to do with the ball even before it reaches your feet. If you react slowly or haven’t thought it through, you’ll miss the chance to receive the ball.
This is what I want to focus on improving in the coming time. As a central midfielder, covering a wide area, I need to quickly see where other players are. I will try to maintain my position in the center midfield area.”
The decline in form has caused Szoboszlai to lose his starting spot recently. In the last 7 matches, number 8 has only started twice.
