Real Madrid is planning to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season. The latest target that Los Blancos are aiming for is Liverpool’s right-back, Trent Alexander-Arnold.
In parallel with completing the season, Real Madrid is also busy in the transfer market. Kylian Mbappe is almost certain to join Bernabeu on a free transfer after confirming his departure from PSG. However, the Spanish giants are not focusing on just one position. They are trying to rejuvenate the full-back position.
Vazquez is about to turn 33 and is not performing well as a right-back
Both Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez, aged 32, have maintained stable form and have been regular starters throughout the 2023/24 season. Nevertheless, Real Madrid understands the need to find a long-term replacement in the near future.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is very interested in Liverpool’s full-back, Alexander-Arnold. In the Debrief podcast, Romano shared: “From the information I have, Real Madrid has a specific interest in Trent Alexander-Arnold. They are monitoring his situation. Currently, there hasn’t been direct contact with the player or his representatives because it’s still too early. Real Madrid is closely monitoring the developments.”
Carvajal is 32 years old and often injured
“Let’s wait and see what the next steps will be. From what I’ve heard, there are currently no specific negotiations between Liverpool and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Therefore, Real Madrid is closely monitoring the situation.”
Alexander-Arnold has solidified his position at Liverpool with 19 goals and 81 assists in 309 appearances since graduating from the club’s academy. At the age of 25, he has already won all the major club honors, including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.
However, Alexander-Arnold’s contract only has 13 months left, and decisions about his future need to be made soon. Manager Jurgen Klopp is expected to be replaced by Arne Slot, which is another factor to consider. Like the cases of Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, Liverpool is facing the risk of losing several stars after this season.
