Securing the title with a victory in the final round, the entire Manchester City team couldn’t hide their joy over their fourth consecutive Premier League title.
Captain Kyle Walker (number 2) lifted the trophy amidst the jubilation of the entire Manchester City team. Pep Guardiola’s men defeated West Ham 3-1 in the 38th round and finished two points ahead of Arsenal overall. Manchester City continues their era of dominance, clinching their sixth title in the last seven Premier League seasons.
Phil Foden, the Player of the Season in the Premier League this year, lifted the trophy. The English midfielder played both as a right midfielder and an attacking midfielder this season. He scored 19 goals, including two in the final match against West Ham. Foden also provided eight assists, shining brightly to potentially fill the shoes of maestro Kevin de Bruyne.
Only one player has played more minutes than Foden this season, and that’s Rodri. The Spanish midfielder scored the final goal for Man City in the Premier League season, sealing the 3-1 victory over West Ham. On the day Man City clinched the title, Rodri also had his own joy, becoming the only player in the league’s history to go undefeated in 74 consecutive matches. This season, Rodri has scored nine goals across all competitions – the most in his career.
Erling Haaland celebrates his second consecutive title with Man City. For the second year in a row, the Norwegian forward claims the Golden Boot award. However, compared to last season, Haaland’s goal tally has decreased (27 goals compared to 36).
Out of his 27 goals, Haaland scored 20 with his left foot, four with headers, and three with his right foot (non-preferred foot). Haaland scored eight against the “Big 6” teams, bagged a hat-trick against Fulham, and netted a poker against Wolves.
In the four seasons before Haaland’s arrival, from 2018-2019 to 2021-2022, the Premier League top scorer couldn’t reach the 25-goal mark.
De Bruyne narrowly missed out on winning the Premier League assists title for the second consecutive season but still played a significant role in helping Manchester City efficiently push towards the end of the season. The 32-year-old midfielder missed the first half of the season due to a wrist injury, only featuring in 18 Premier League matches this season, where he managed to score four goals and provide 10 assists.
In his nine years at Manchester City, the Belgian midfielder has won an impressive six Premier League titles.
