Liverpool’s skipper, Virgil van Dijk, was sighted alongside Max Verstappen prior to the Monaco Grand Prix.
Following a challenging conclusion to the season, during which the Reds missed out on the Premier League title and were eliminated from the Europa League by eventual champions Atalanta, van Dijk and his teammates are now taking some well-deserved rest.
With several Premier League players already on holiday and others preparing for the upcoming Euros, which kicks off in just over two weeks, van Dijk opted for a trip to Monaco where he spent time with his compatriot and Formula One world champion, Verstappen.
The duo engaged in deep conversation while enjoying non-alcoholic beverages before boarding a Red Bull boat, where their discussion continued.
Van Dijk and Verstappen share a close friendship, despite Verstappen reportedly being a Manchester United supporter.
At the upcoming Euros, Van Dijk will lead the Netherlands in their quest to secure their first trophy in 36 years.
Under the management of Ronald Koeman, the Dutch team will commence their campaign against Poland on June 16, followed by matches against France and Austria in Group D.
Meanwhile, Verstappen is aiming for his sixth victory in what has been another impressive season so far. Although he has triumphed twice on Monaco’s challenging streets, he expresses concerns that the unique demands of the circuit may not align with the strengths of his Red Bull car.
“It’s a different track and not our strongest suit because our car struggles with the kerbs and in low-speed corners,” Verstappen remarked. “We’ve made improvements, but it won’t be a straightforward weekend for us.”
