The Liverpool FC stadium was transformed into a sea of pink: Legendary Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp returns for Taylor Swift gig as he records message for his followers

Klopp is returning to Anfield for the first time since leaving role as Reds manager

Jurgen Klopp has returned to Liverpool, preparing to visit Anfield for the first time since stepping down as the club’s manager.

Klopp bid farewell to the Reds fans in May after his final game, a 2-0 win over Wolves, which sparked emotional reactions from the supporters present. After spending some relaxing time abroad with his wife Ulla and adjusting to life away from the Reds following nine years in charge, he is back in Liverpool to enjoy some leisure time.

However, his agenda doesn’t include football this time. Instead, he’s attending a Taylor Swift concert, as the pop star brings her Eras Tour to Merseyside as part of the UK leg of the tour. In a video shared on Instagram, Klopp, with a caption referencing Swift’s song “All Too Well,” revealed he was back in the city ready for the show.

‘So, back in Liverpool, and now it’s Taylor time,’ the 56-year-old began. ‘So three things I had to do today. No, I had two.

“A barber appointment with Ummut, then we’re heading to Anfield. It’s my first time going to Anfield not for a football game but to watch Taylor Swift from the stands. So yeah, I’m not Taylor made, but definitely Taylor ready.

Let’s go to Anfield and have a good night, hopefully a great night. See you there, bye.”

He was later seen at the stadium in a video posted on X, appearing to wear lover-themed glasses.

Last month, in an hour-long Q&A with Liverpool staff, Klopp revealed, according to The Athletic, that his wife Ulla had purchased tickets for them to attend Swift’s Eras Tour at his former home stadium.

According to the report, Klopp shared this news when asked about the music he enjoys in his downtime. After responding, he even broke into a rendition of Swift’s “Shake It Off” in front of the audience.

Swift had been performing in Edinburgh before moving to Liverpool, with her first show in the city on Thursday. Following three shows at Anfield on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, she will head to Cardiff, then London, Dublin, and finally Amsterdam.

The German was then spotted inside the stadium by supporters

Klopp joined Instagram last month in a move to stay connected with Liverpool fans after leaving and shared a tear-jerking farewell video following his final training session as his first post.

He admitted that he is not a ‘social media guy,’ but after nine years at Anfield, he wanted to stay in touch with people on the platform.

Since then, the German has shared several posts, including photos of him lifting the Champions League trophy with Liverpool in 2019, attending a Q&A in Liverpool, and playing tennis. Additionally, he has been enjoying time in Majorca, where he purchased a villa for £3.4 million. He plans to transform it into ‘an ecological family paradise.’

Explaining his attraction to Majorca, Klopp told the podcast Willipedia via Bild: ‘I’ve dreamed of having a house in the south all my life. I like the weather, the climate, and the people. There are many things I like here, and I also know people here already. I’m not looking to make new friends; I already have lifelong friends, and if some of them are here too, that’s cool.’
