Real Madrid ‘tied up’ Bellingham with a clause of 1 billion euros
Last summer, Real Madrid spent £113 million (including add-ons) to sign Jude Bellingham from Dortmund. The deal quickly reaped great success as the English midfielder shone, scoring 23 goals and providing 11 assists, helping Los Blancos win the Champions League and La Liga double.
According to TalkSport, Real Madrid from the beginning appreciated and really valued Bellingham , so they installed a contract break clause of up to 1 billion euros (871 million pounds). To date, this is the highest contract release fee for a player in Europe.
Barca is the first club to do this and the most frequent because they bitterly lost Neymar to PSG when the French team spent 222 million euros to break the Brazilian player’s contract.
Currently, a series of Barca players have contract release clauses of 1 billion euros such as Pedri, Gavi, Ronald Araujo, Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres.
On Real’s side, in addition to Bellingham, there are also two stars with similarly high contract termination clauses: Vinicius and Eduardo Camavinga.
In the Premier League, the player with the highest contract release clause is Kevin de Bruyne (£223m) when he signed a new contract in 2021. This allows Man City not to worry about losing Pep’s favorite student to rivals.
Before EURO 2024 officially started, veteran midfielder Toni Kroos of the German national team believed that Real Madrid junior Bellingham would shine in the England national team: I worked side by side with Jude Bellingham for a year and really wondered about him. How old is he?
It’s true that Bellingham is only 20 years old but, especially off the field, he feels a bit more mature than that. That said, there is a lot of hope placed on Jude Bellingham in England.
At Real in the first few weeks he became an important factor for us. And I don’t feel Bellingham has any problems with his importance to the team increasing.
People have high hopes for Jude Bellingham. I don’t think he’ll have any problems with that kind of pressure.”
