Mbappe had hoped to wear the France flag mask he sported in training
As a result, he must play with a mask in order to cope with the injury, starting with Friday night’s clash with the Dutch.
After training in a mask adorning the French flag, Mbappe shared a snap of a completely black mask to Instagram ahead of the match.
His story post showed the mask alongside his France kit, although Mbappe will not start the match in Leipzig.
Instead, Didier Deschamps has named the 25-year-old amongst his substitutes.
Mbappe’s new mask reveal comes after it was revealed he would be unable to wear the tricolore design he had sported in training.
Uefa rules state masks worn in matches must be a single colour, unlike the design he previously displayed.
The new mask revealed by Mbappe would conform to Uefa rules if he appeared off the bench.
