Liverpool’s standout performer, Darwin Nunez, netted a spectacular goal with his left foot for Uruguay, while Bolivia endured a heavy 0-5 loss to Uruguay

Uruguay demonstrated dominance over Bolivia, particularly evident in the closing stages of the match. In the second round of the 2024 Copa America group stage, Uruguay clashed with Bolivia. Coach Bielsa fielded a formidable attacking lineup, with Nunez leading the charge as center forward.

Early in the game, Uruguay’s number 19 had an opportunity in the 2nd minute, but his header narrowly missed the target.

However, Uruguay didn’t have to wait long. In the 8th minute, Pellistri broke the deadlock with a close-range header from Araujo’s assist. This early goal injected excitement into Uruguay’s play as they began to create numerous dangerous chances, keeping the Bolivian goalkeeper busy.

After missing a couple of opportunities, Darwin Nunez finally found the back of the net with a precise left-footed strike. He came close to making it 3-0 with a header that hit the crossbar. Towards the end of the first half, Bolivia attempted to mount a comeback but struggled to find an equalizer.

In the second half, Uruguay took control by retaining possession but adopted a slower tempo. Meanwhile, Bolivia’s defensive frailties were exposed. The match regained its liveliness in the latter stages of the second half. Pellistri squandered a golden opportunity in the 71st minute, missing an open goal.

Six minutes later, De la Cruz delivered a well-placed pass and Araujo outran the opposition’s goalkeeper to extend Uruguay’s lead to 3-0. In the 81st minute, Valverde executed a one-two with Pellistri inside the penalty area before slotting a shot into the far corner that the Bolivian goalkeeper couldn’t stop.

In the 89th minute, substitutes De Arrascaeta and Bentancur combined perfectly to seal a resounding victory for Uruguay.
