This season, the Dodgers have had at least five players named as All-Stars. The LAD lead the NL West standings with a 56-41 record going into the All-Star break, despite having several of their studs on the injured list. Freddie Freeman, Shohei Ohtani, Will Smith, and Teoscar Hernandez have taken up the offensive swagger since Mookie Betts spearheaded the push in April.

As he has repaid every dollar spent on him this past offseason, Shohei Ohtani has led LAD in offensive statistics this season. Freeman and Will Smith, the backstop, have been Shotime’s perfect foils at the plate. Ohtani has a 1.036 OPS, 29 home runs, 69 RBIs, and a batting average of.316.

With a batting average of.291, 61 RBIs, 14 home runs, and an OPS of.887, Freddie Freeman is quite the player. This season, Will has been among the top catchers in the major leagues, with a batting average of.272, 15 home runs, 55 RBIs, and a.838 OPS.

Ohtani, the designated hitter from the NL All-Star squad, will get the start as the designated DH, with Freeman and Smith serving as reserves. The Midsummer Classic will be decided by manager Torey Lovullo during the game.

Before the All-Star break, Shohei Ohtani and the Dodgers have continued to amass an impressive record.

The Dodgers are sending more than five players to the All-Star game for the fifth year in a row, and they have over 50 victories in the season going into the All-Star break for the tenth time in a row.

They deserve a great deal of appreciation for their stability over the years, but in recent seasons, they have struggled to win hotly contested postseason games.

Not just Mookie Betts, Teoscar Hernandez, Freddie Freeman, Will Smith, or Shohei Ohtani will bear the responsibility for a deep postseason run. For the second half of the 2024 season, every player on the squad must remain in great health and continue to contribute with respectable performances in all facets of the game.
