Liverpool forward Diogo Jota stood out as a prominent figure at the Esports World Cup in Riyadh on Sunday.
The event, recognized as the largest gaming and esports festival globally, will run until August 25 at Boulevard Riyadh City.
Jota was deeply impressed by the event, describing it as “a truly amazing experience.” The Portuguese player, who was recently in the spotlight during Euro 2024, had the opportunity to meet esports competitors from Saudi Arabia’s Team Falcons and exchange stories about gaming and esports.
In addition to his passion for gaming, Jota has also invested in the multinational esports organization Galaxy Racer.
Jota’s gaming abilities are widely acknowledged. He achieved the top spot on the FIFA 21 Champions Leaderboard and frequently streams on Twitch. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he also won a FIFA invitational series organized by the Premier League.
Additionally, Jota founded his own esports team, originally known as Diogo Jota Esports, which has since been rebranded as Luna Galaxy and now operates under the Galaxy Racer umbrella.
WHAT JOTA SAID?
Jota said: “Being here at the inaugural Esports World Cup is a truly amazing experience.
The organization and scale behind this event are truly impressive, even more than I anticipated.
I’ve always believed in the potential of esports, even before starting my own team, and EWC is proof that this scene is evolving rapidly. This level of investment and infrastructure is exactly what esports needs to grow and reach a wider audience. I’m excited to see how EWC continues to evolve and push the boundaries of competitive gaming.”
