4 Highlights in Liverpool’s training session: New challenges; A spectacular transformation

There were many notable points in Liverpool’s latest training session under Arne Slot in the United States.

The United States tour has seen plenty of substitutes impress under Arne Klot, while veteran players such as Mohamed Salah , Dominik Szoboszlai and Harvey Elliott have made good starts under the new boss. They all look like good options to start the season.

Slot to place your mark

Arne Slot’s style has many similarities with Jurgen Klopp, meaning Liverpool will not choose to follow new tactical trends.

However, during training, some differences became apparent. In the United States, another novel exercise was introduced. Players were photographed using a large, weighted ball —sprinting briefly while receiving and then throwing it.

It’s designed to help improve strength and balance. And players seem to love it:

Ideal training ground

Liverpool general manager Billy Hogan revealed earlier this week that ground managers had been consulted on all venues ahead of the season, with elite training facilities becoming a top priority. The UPMC Rodney Sports Complex is home to the NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers and the NCAA’s Pittsburgh Panthers.

You can see why Liverpool chose this place. It looks like a high-end venue, with well-maintained lawns and a range of modern gym equipment.

One of the more interesting features, however, is a tower overlooking the training ground. Liverpool have taken advantage of it, placing a coach watching from above.

We’ve barely seen Ben Doak in the past year, due to an unfortunate injury, but he’s clearly been putting in a lot of time in the gym. Doak looks much fitter.

He is almost certain to play in the US friendly. It will be great to see his pace and power in the coming games. It is a combination that has been similar to Mohamed Salah for many years, and the Scot will be hoping to become the long-term heir to the No. 11.

Dominik Szoboszlai, meanwhile, looked as strong as ever. Salah was also back to his usual perfect form.

Slot hosted a small-sided match, with photos showing some players in red overalls while others remained in green training gear.

Kaide Gordon, Wataru Endo and Tyler Morton were among those in red overalls, facing off against Curtis Jones, Elliott and Sepp van den Berg.
