REDS STORM: Liverpool’s resounding victory with a 3-0 win over Man Utd as Jones and Tsimikas skillfully score against the opposing team

Man Utd are in good form on their tour of the United States. Coach Ten Hag’s team left a positive mark with wins over Rangers, Betis and a loss to Arsenal (90 minutes, penalty shootout).

However, the surprise happened in the “Red Devils” final friendly match when they were unexpectedly “exposed” by Liverpool at Williams-Brice Stadium. That was the inevitable result of an unconvincing performance by Ten Hag’s students.

Man Utd still took to the field with a lineup that combined young players and established stars. Both teams started the match strongly, Man Utd was slightly better than their opponents but Liverpool surprisingly opened the scoring.

In the 10th minute, Carvalho got the ball at the edge of the penalty area, he confidently passed Casemiro, penetrated inside and then kicked the ball past Onana while Wan-Bissaka did not have time to intervene. The main fault for Man Utd’s goal belonged to Casemiro, the Brazilian midfielder was too slow and heavy for his opponent to easily get past him.

After conceding the goal, Man Utd pressed forward with a strong attack. Ten Hag’s team had no difficulty approaching Kelleher’s goal, but they could not score. Partly because Man Utd’s strikers were unlucky, partly because Kelleher also played excellently with solid saves.

The weakness in defense cost Man Utd. In the 36th minute, Amass made a superficial save in a one-on-one situation with Salah, the Egyptian player passed him and brought the ball down to the sideline and crossed for Jones to tap in close to the goal, increasing the score to 2-0.

The break in the second half helped Ten Hag to regain his players’ spirit. Entering the second half, the Dutch strategist only made 3 substitutions, Man Utd had a good first 15 minutes of the second half, overwhelming coach Slot’s team, unfortunately their strikers were still unlucky.

In the 61st minute, Liverpool easily organized an attack when the connection between Man Utd’s lines was very loose. Onana blocked the opponent’s shot, the ball bounced back, leaving the Cameroonian goalkeeper unable to do anything when Tsimikas rushed in to shoot, raising the score to 3-0.

After conceding three goals, Man Utd were somewhat down in spirit, plus Ten Hag’s massive change of personnel in the middle of the second half made the “Red Devils” play in the rest of the match unimpressive, so they could not score. In the end, Man Utd had to accept a 0-3 defeat.

After the match with Liverpool, Man Utd will return to England to prepare for the Community Shield against Man City on the evening of August 11.
