VICTORY TRIP: Liverpool’s dominant 3-0 triumph over Man Utd, with Jones and Tsimikas expertly finding the back of the net against the opposition

Man Utd have been performing well on their tour of the United States. Coach Ten Hag’s squad made a strong impression with victories over Rangers and Betis, and a close defeat to Arsenal (after 90 minutes and a penalty shootout).

However, the unexpected happened in their final friendly match when Liverpool caught them off guard at Williams-Brice Stadium. This outcome was a result of an otherwise lackluster performance by Ten Hag’s team.

Man Utd took the field with a mix of young talents and seasoned stars. Both teams started the match with high energy, with Man Utd showing slightly more dominance. However, Liverpool unexpectedly took the lead.

In the 10th minute, Carvalho received the ball on the edge of the penalty area, skillfully maneuvered past Casemiro, and then slotted it past Onana as Wan-Bissaka couldn’t intervene. Casemiro was primarily at fault for the goal, as his sluggishness allowed Carvalho to easily bypass him.

After conceding, Man Utd intensified their attack, pressing hard and getting close to Kelleher’s goal but failing to score. This was partly due to the strikers’ bad luck and partly due to Kelleher’s outstanding saves.

Defensive lapses cost Man Utd further. In the 36th minute, Amass failed to adequately challenge Salah in a one-on-one situation, allowing the Egyptian to cross for Jones, who tapped in from close range to make it 2-0.

The halftime break seemed to rejuvenate Ten Hag’s players. In the second half, despite making only three substitutions, Man Utd dominated the early minutes. However, their strikers continued to be unlucky.

In the 61st minute, Liverpool exploited the disorganized Man Utd defense. Onana initially blocked the shot, but the ball rebounded, and Tsimikas capitalized on the opportunity to score, extending the lead to 3-0.

After conceding three goals, Man Utd were somewhat down in spirit, plus Ten Hag’s massive change of personnel in the middle of the second half made the “Red Devils” play in the rest of the match unimpressive, so they could not score. In the end, Man Utd had to accept a 0-3 defeat.
