Luis Diaz’s family had a small, intimate Christmas party after the incident in which his parents were ƙιԀ𝚗аρρеԀ and later reunited in tears

With Liverpool arranging for Luis Diaz’s parents and extended family to travel to Merseyside for the festive season, Sunday marked an emotional 55th birthday for his father.

After the traumatic ordeal where Luis Manuel Diaz and his wife, Cilenis Marulanda, were kidnapped in Colombia, the club has provided their No. 7 with full support.

While Marulanda, Diaz’s mother, was quickly rescued, Diaz Sr. was held by a terrorist group for nearly two weeks before being released.

He was later reunited with his son and witnessed him score twice in Colombia’s 2-1 victory over Brazil in Barranquilla, before flying to Liverpool with the family. Liverpool arranged a private flight for the Diaz family, who will spend Christmas on Merseyside. Diaz Sr. was also present in the stands for Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Man City.

The following day, celebrations took place at Diaz’s home, as the Liverpool winger’s father turned 55.

Organized by Diaz’s wife, Gera Ponce, the celebration brought together Diaz Sr. and Marulanda with their children, including Diaz’s brothers, Roller and Jesus, and his sister, Anny.

“I want to thank God for allowing me to celebrate another year of life,” Diaz Sr. shared on Instagram.

“My family, my wife, my children, and my daughter-in-law made this day so special for me. God bless you all, I love you with all my heart.”

It’s uncertain how long the Diaz family will stay in the UK, but they are expected to remain on Merseyside through Christmas and possibly into the New Year.
