Luis Diaz’s family held a small, private Christmas celebration following the traumatic incident where his parents were ƙιԀ𝚗аρρеԀ and subsequently reunited with tears of joy

With Liverpool arranging for Luis Diaz’s parents and extended family to come to Merseyside for the holiday season, Sunday was marked by an emotional celebration of his father’s 55th birthday.

After the harrowing ordeal in which Luis Manuel Diaz and his wife, Cilenis Marulanda, were kidnapped in Colombia, the club has provided full support to their No. 7.

While Marulanda was quickly rescued, Diaz Sr. was held by a terrorist group for nearly two weeks before his release.

Following his reunion with his son, Diaz Sr. watched as Luis scored twice in Colombia’s 2-1 victory over Brazil in Barranquilla, before traveling to Liverpool with his family.

The club arranged a private flight for the Diaz family, who are spending Christmas on Merseyside. Diaz Sr. was also in attendance for Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Man City.

The following day, celebrations took place at Diaz’s home to mark his father’s 55th birthday.

Organized by Gera Ponce, Diaz’s wife, the celebration brought together Diaz Sr. and Marulanda with their children, including Diaz’s brothers Roller and Jesus and his sister Anny.

“I want to thank God for allowing me to celebrate another year of life,” Diaz Sr. posted on Instagram.

“I’m grateful to my family, my wife, my children, and my daughter-in-law for making this day so special. God bless you all; I love you with all my heart.”

It is yet to be determined how long the Diaz family will stay in the UK, but they are expected to remain on Merseyside throughout Christmas and likely into the New Year.
