Liverpool will turn their attention to other transfer targets after completing the signing of Martin Zubimendi, according to Fabrizio Romano.
According to British media, Liverpool have made Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi their top transfer target and will activate his £51 million release clause.
The Athletic reports that Sociedad are expecting the player nicknamed “little Busquets” to move to Anfield, after he has repeatedly rejected the chance to leave the club.
But Martin Zubimendi’s release clause needs to be paid in full, similar to Dominik Szoboszlai’s deal with RB Leipzig last summer.
Now, Romano has revealed that Liverpool are targeting a number of other targets ahead of Arne Slot’s first season in charge. Speaking on his YouTube channel, the Italian transfer expert said: “Believe me, it’s not over for Liverpool. They are also looking for other opportunities in the market, so Liverpool will be very busy in August.”
“They are now looking to sign Zubimendi, but Liverpool could do more. The Red Devils on Merseyside are making a move for Bayer Leverkusen star Piero Hincapie, who can play at centre-back and left-back.”
The Ecuadorian is left-footed, meaning he would compete with both Virgil van Dijk and Andrew Robertson for a place if signed.
Sky Germany reports that Hincapie wants to become a regular and is aware of interest from top clubs. The player has three years left on his contract.
The 22-year-old is one of the most highly rated young defenders in European football, but was not a regular starter in Xabi Alonso’s team last season. He could consider Liverpool as a possible destination.
