Liverpool has made Martin Zubimendi their top transfer target and is prepared to pay the necessary amount to activate his release clause, securing a deal for the Euro champion

Liverpool is set to focus on other transfer targets after securing the signing of Martin Zubimendi, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

British media sources indicate that Liverpool has identified Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi as their primary transfer target and is prepared to trigger his £51 million release clause.

According to The Athletic, Sociedad expects the player, who has earned the nickname “little Busquets,” to join Anfield after consistently turning down opportunities to leave the club.

However, to secure Zubimendi, Liverpool will need to pay his release clause in full, similar to how they handled Dominik Szoboszlai’s transfer from RB Leipzig last summer.

Romano has now disclosed that Liverpool is also eyeing additional targets as they prepare for Arne Slot’s first season at the helm. On his YouTube channel, the Italian transfer expert said, “Believe me, Liverpool’s business isn’t done yet. They are exploring other market opportunities, so expect them to be very active in August.”

“Liverpool is currently working on signing Zubimendi, but they may go further. The Merseyside Reds are also pursuing Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapié, who can play both as a center-back and left-back.”

The Ecuadorian, who is left-footed, could provide competition for both Virgil van Dijk and Andrew Robertson if he joins Liverpool.

Sky Germany reports that Hincapié, with three years left on his contract, is keen to become a regular starter and is aware of the interest from top clubs. At 22, he is considered one of the most promising young defenders in European football, despite not being a regular starter for Xabi Alonso’s team last season. Liverpool could be an appealing option for him.
