Jürgen Klopp has given a glimpse into his retirement plans on the sunny island of Majorca, though the former Liverpool manager isn’t ready to step away from football just yet.
The 56-year-old German coach has purchased a £3.4 million villa on the Balearic island, with plans to transform it into an “ecological family paradise.”
After leaving Liverpool due to feeling “burnt out,” Klopp envisions Majorca as the ideal retreat to relax with his wife Ulla and family.
Discussing his attraction to Majorca on the Willipedia podcast via Bild, Klopp shared: “I’ve always dreamed of having a home in the south. I love the weather, the climate, and the people here. I’m not searching for new friends; I already have lifelong friends, and it’s great if some of them are here too.”
“But when I’m here, I want everything to be familiar.
“That might sound boring, but the idea is to experience a different lifestyle—just not in some remote jungle or mountain.”
Looking ahead to the time when he eventually retires from football, Klopp remarked, “We’re getting older, and the medical care here is excellent.
“There are many German doctors, and I want to be able to fully understand everything about how I’m feeling as health issues become more significant.”
Although Klopp plans to take a break from football to recharge, he has no intention of retiring, stating, “It’s out of the question that I’ll stop working entirely.
“But I don’t see myself maintaining the same intensity as before.”
Klopp bought his Majorcan property in June 2022 for £3.4 million from Swiss businessman and artist Rolf Knie, and decided to completely renovate the 5,000-square-metre estate.
