As part of the brand’s 75th anniversary celebrations, adidas has brought the iconic trefoil back to the pitch, with the launch of the 24/25 third jerseys for Arsenal, FC Bayern, Juventus, Manchester United and Real Madrid.
Following on from its switch to a lifestyle setting, the Trefoil logo has usually been reserved for adidas Originals ranges. However, to mark the brand’s upcoming 75th anniversary in 2025 in style, it makes a triumphant return to the pitch, replacing the Three Stripes Performance logo across the new 23/24 third kits for Arsenal, FC Bayern, Juventus, Manchester United and Real Madrid. It follows on from the Trefoil featuring prominently across retro ranges throughout last season, and is a welcome next step in its reintroduction into the performance sector, if only for this season.
For the 24/25 collection, each club has received a unique design that communicates their individual DNA through a streetwear lens.
Sam Handy, SVP of Product and Design, adidas Football, said: “Football and fashion currently co-exist in a proximity that has never been seen before. Our adidas trefoil logo stands for sporting elegance, authentic style and, for many fans, the collective memory of football. As we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the brand, it’s the perfect time to further mesh these two worlds and bring the trefoil onto the pitch.
It was important for us to extent the legacy of the trefoil by creating new fashionable icons. Third jerseys allow our team to collaborate with the clubs to dig deep into their history and modern culture for new inspiration, and they are often worn by fans as a fashion statement away from the stadium environment. We designed these new kits with one simple mantra in our mind – “beautiful kits for the beautiful game.”
A fresh and modern take on the colour palettes from the iconic away kits from 1994/95 and 1995/6. The Arsenal 24/25 Third kit is made for Gunners around the world with a bold, fashionable design, combined with a hint of nostalgia. A smart, crew neck collar and matching sleeve detailing complement the elegance of the trefoil and the cannon crest, which features on all three kits this season. These elements combine to create a vibrant, eye-catching look that brings pride, inspiration and belonging to the streets of North London and beyond.
Crafted for sparkling football and unmatched style, the new FC Bayern 24/25 Third jersey combines the iconic red and white colour pallet from the club’s DNA with adidas heritage and a subtle and tonal all-over diamond graphic. The jersey brings back a classic club badge from the 1970s, celebrating some of the golden years in the club’s history. Additional touches like the flat-knit polo collar and an FCB sign-off on the back neck complete the look designed to resonate off the pitch as much as on it.
Continuing this season’s theme for all the club’s jerseys, this new Juventus 24/25 Third jersey is once again inspired by the moon – this time drawing from its reflection in the night sky. This is communicated via a sophisticated starry night colour palette in shades of navy blue with refined gold details and a tonal all-over graphic. This heavenly jersey features an elegant polo collar and is adorned with a gold ‘Juventus’ sign-off on the back neck. The club crest is replaced by a gold silhouette of the world-famous Juventus zebra.
MANCHESTER UNITED
The new Man Utd 24/25 Third kit is steeped in the culture of the club’s global fanbase. The red, white and black tricolor flag that unites fans worldwide is emblazoned across the chest, enabling fans to show pride in the Red Devils like never before. The flag also appears as a back neck sign-off. The jersey features a seasonal crew neck collar and the traditional club crest is replaced by the iconic club devil for stylish simplicity.
REAL MADRID
This Real Madrid 24/25 Third jersey fuses a timeless, classic style and dark grey colour palette with elegant, modern touches. It features a premium, engineered all-over “RMCF” monogram pattern, flat-knit polo collar which, combined with the iconic trefoil, create a look that harmonises the traditional with the contemporary.
