Liverpool are exploring move for Juventus forward Federico Chiesa as club weigh up making a late bid to strengthen Arne Slot’s squad before transfer deadline

Liverpool have shown interest in Juventus forward Federico Chiesa and are considering a late bid to sign the Italian this week.

Although nothing is advanced at this stage, the Reds are aware of Chiesa’s availability and are exploring the possibility of bringing him to England. It is believed that the Italian forward is keen on a move to Anfield.

New manager Arne Slot has started his tenure with two Premier League victories, but the club has been relatively quiet in the transfer market as the deadline approaches.

After securing a deal with Valencia for goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, Liverpool are now evaluating several options to strengthen their attack.

Despite already having a strong attacking lineup that includes Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo, and Darwin Nunez, Slot seems open to further bolstering his frontline.

Chiesa is not part of Thiago Motta’s project in Turin and Juventus are actively seeking solutions for the Italy international as they look to offload him.

The 26-year-old forward has just one year remaining on his contract and may not command a significant transfer fee.

It’s reported that he had been in discussions about a potential move to Barcelona after being excluded from Juventus’ squad for their final three pre-season friendlies earlier this month.

Chiesa originally joined Juventus from Fiorentina in a deal worth just over £40 million in the summer of 2022, following a two-year loan spell with the club.

Last season, he scored 10 goals and provided three assists in 37 appearances and was part of the Italy squad that was eliminated in the last-16 of Euro 2024.

However, after being frozen out by manager Thiago Motta along with other first-team players, Chiesa is now expected to leave Juventus in the coming days.

‘We were clear internally,’ Motta said. ‘We spoke with each of them.

‘We’ve got good players who are used to playing regularly.

‘The club is trying to find solutions for them and, for their own good and the good of everyone, they too have to find solutions as soon as possible.’
