Liverpool have expressed interest in Juventus forward Federico Chiesa and are contemplating a late bid to sign him this week.
While discussions are still in the early stages, Liverpool is aware of Chiesa’s availability and is exploring the chance to bring him to Anfield. It’s believed that Chiesa is eager to make the move to Liverpool.
New manager Arne Slot has begun his tenure with two Premier League wins, but the club has been relatively inactive in the transfer market as the deadline approaches.
Following the completion of a deal with Valencia for goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, Liverpool is now considering several options to enhance their attacking options..
Despite already having a strong attacking lineup featuring Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo, and Darwin Nunez, Slot appears open to further strengthening his forward line.
Chiesa is not part of Thiago Motta’s plans at Juventus, and the club is actively seeking to offload him.
With only one year remaining on his contract, Chiesa might not command a high transfer fee. Reports suggest he was in talks about a move to Barcelona after being left out of Juventus’ squad for their last three pre-season friendlies earlier this month.
Chiesa joined Juventus from Fiorentina in a deal worth just over £40 million in the summer of 2022, having spent the previous two seasons on loan with the club. Last season, he scored 10 goals and registered three assists in 37 games and was part of the Italy squad that was eliminated in the last-16 of Euro 2024.
After being sidelined by manager Thiago Motta along with other first-team players, Chiesa is expected to depart Juventus in the near future.
“We were clear internally,” Motta said. “We spoke with each of them. We have good players accustomed to regular play. The club is working on solutions for them, and for their benefit and the team’s, they need to find solutions as soon as possible.”
