Cristiano Ronaldo was in Monaco for the 2024/25 Champions League draw. Before the ceremony, the Portuguese superstar received the award for “Top scorer in Champions League history” from UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin.

This is a special award created by the European Football Federation to honor the star who holds many records in the tournament. In addition to the record of 140 goals, CR7 is also the player with the most assists (42), the most hat-tricks (8), the most goals in a season (17),…

In 2022, the World Football Federation (FIFA) also dedicated a special award to honor Ronaldo’s best scoring record in history at the national team level.

Before the 2023/24 season, Ronaldo was one of the players who won the most Champions Leagues in history. However, CR7 was surpassed by Dani Cavarjal and Luka Modric. This duo just won the 6th European Championship, after Los Blancos defeated Dortmund in the final in May.

“I want to thank Real Madrid, the team with whom I won four Champions League titles. What I achieved with Real was extraordinary,” Ronaldo shared.

When asked if he wanted to return to the Champions League, Ronaldo answered without thinking: “Of course. I always get excited every time the Champions League music plays.”

In addition to receiving the award, Ronaldo also participated in the draw ceremony. The superstar born in 1985 helps Real have a fairly easy schedule in the new Champions League format. Coach Ancelotti’s opponents are Dortmund, Liverpool, Milan, Atalanta, Salzburg, Lille, Stuttgart and Brest.
