In the second match of Group C of the CAN 2025 qualifiers, Egypt visited Botswana. The North African representative easily won 4-0 on the day Mohamed Salah made his 100th appearance for the team.
The international matches that took place last September left many memorable impressions. Luis Suarez made his final appearance for Uruguay. Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 900th career goal as Portugal beat Croatia. Harry Kane marked his 100th appearance for England with a brace.
Not getting much media attention, in Africa, Mohamed Salah has just reached the milestone of 100 appearances with the Egyptian national team.
That was the North African representative’s 4-0 victory over Botswana in the second round of Group C of the CAN 2025 qualifiers. Liverpool FC’s homepage also posted this information and sent congratulations to the team’s striker.
The Egyptian Football Federation shared a video of Salah being presented with a jersey with the number 100 by his teammates and the team’s coaching staff in the dressing room after the big win over Botswana. They captioned the video as follows: “A moment of pride! Let’s celebrate this milestone with our Egyptian King.”
Speaking to the media, Egypt’s team leader Ibrahim Hassan said: “I would like to congratulate Mohamed Salah on his 100th appearance. I am very happy that this happened on a day when the Egyptian team had a big win.
Salah is a very important player for our team. I hope he will reach the 200-appearance mark in the future.”
Returning to the match on Botswana’s field, Salah started from the start and scored the third goal for Egypt in the 56th minute. The remaining goals were scored by Trezeguet (5′, 29′) and Mohamed Fathi (90+4′). Currently, after 2 matches, Egypt is leading Group C of the CAN 2025 qualifiers with 6 absolute points.
