Mohamed Salah reaches memorable milestone with Egypt national team and the impressive performance in the match against Botswana

In the second match of Group C of the CAN 2025 qualifiers, Egypt traveled to Botswana and secured a comfortable 4-0 victory on the day Mohamed Salah made his 100th appearance for the national team.

Last September’s international fixtures were particularly notable, featuring Luis Suarez’s final game for Uruguay, Cristiano Ronaldo reaching his 900th career goal in Portugal’s win over Croatia, and Harry Kane celebrating his 100th cap for England with a brace.

In Africa, less widely covered, Mohamed Salah achieved his own milestone of 100 appearances for Egypt. This landmark was highlighted by Egypt’s 4-0 triumph over Botswana in the CAN 2025 qualifiers. Liverpool FC’s official website also reported the achievement and congratulated their striker.

The Egyptian Football Federation shared a video of Salah receiving a jersey marked with the number 100 from his teammates and coaching staff in the locker room after the win. The video was captioned: “A moment of pride! Let’s celebrate this milestone with our Egyptian King.”

Egypt’s team leader, Ibrahim Hassan, spoke to the media, saying: “I want to congratulate Mohamed Salah on his 100th cap. I’m thrilled that it coincided with a significant win for the Egyptian team. Salah is a crucial player for us, and I hope he reaches the 200-cap milestone in the future.”

In the match against Botswana, Salah started and scored Egypt’s third goal in the 56th minute.

Trezeguet contributed with two goals (5′, 29′), and Mohamed Fathi added the final goal in stoppage time (90+4′). After two matches, Egypt leads Group C in the CAN 2025 qualifiers with a perfect 6 points.
