Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Weight Training Sets Him Apart from Other 7-Footers

Former Laker Giannis Antetokounmpo says his weight training has made him so much better than other 7-footers.

Labeled as The Greek Freak, Giannis Antetokounmpo surely lives up to his moniker. The Milwaukee Bucks superstar is one of the strongest and most athletic forwards out there in the league. He can cover the court in just a few strides and finish at the rim with absolute ease. Giannis may be the best seven-footer in the league.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, sometimes known as The Greek Freak, certainly lives up to his nickname. One of the league’s strongest and most athletic forwards is the star player for the Milwaukee Bucks. He can finish near the rim with complete ease and cover the court in a few strides. Furthermore, this former Laker asserts that Giannis might be the league’s finest seven-foot player.

On the Club 520 podcast, Michael Beasley joined Jeff Teague and the group. During his visit, Beasley discussed what makes Giannis unique.

That’s what separates Giannis from a competent seven-footer. Every day, Giannis is in my life. He is going to wear 200, 250, and get his hip bridges in.He said, “Hey, I’m talking about you lifting weight that you shouldn’t be.”

In the second half of his career, Beasley only spent a single year on the Bucks roster. However, he witnessed the commitment and volume of labor the Bucks forward made every day. He even related a story about how Giannis shattered his collarbone from lifting too much weight and didn’t realize it for a whole week.

However, observing Antetokounmpo’s approach to body maintenance also made him aware of how poorly he had taken care of his own. Teague, who commented on how the younger players are far more conscious of how to take care of themselves for longevity, attested to it as well.

The Greek Freak felt it was time to make a change after observing how even the minor players were bullying him. In his tenth year in the league, the former NBA champion has managed to put on almost 50 pounds. His current weight is estimated to be about 242 pounds.

His growth of muscle and weight made him a new animal altogether. Since then, Giannis has been selected for many All-Star teams, won two MVP awards, a DPOY, and helped Milwaukee win its second championship in franchise history.
