Real Madrid defensive target Trent Alexander-Arnold is all set to pen down a new deal at Liverpool on one condition.

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future has been one of the biggest talking points of late. Liverpool have been trying hard to ensure he pens down a deal and according to a report from Football Insider, the English full-back is ready to extend his stay if he feels the club have matched his ambition.

Alexander-Arnold has been at Liverpool since his childhood days. He came up the ranks at some pace and was promoted to their first team back in 2016. He became an integral part of their team in no time and played a massive part in all the success they had during Jurgen Klopp’s time at the club.

The 25-year-old is considered to be one of the best full-backs in the world and he remains an integral part of Liverpool’s first team. But, his future is uncertain with his contract running out at the end of the 2024/25 season.

While speaking about his future, the English international said: “I want to be a Liverpool player this season [as a minimum] is what I will say.”

“The most important thing is trophies if I’m honest,”

“I want to win trophies, I am a player who is highly motivated by winning things and being elite.”

Alexander-Arnold is open to staying at the Merseyside club as long as they match his ambition but he did make it quite clear that he could end up parting ways if he is not convinced by their project.

Real Madrid are keen on signing Alexander-Arnold

The 25-year-old is on the wishlist of Real Madrid who are looking for a long-term successor of Dani Carvajal. The Merseyside club’s defender could be a perfect fit for their system and he will surely have a massive chance of winning trophies at the Madrid-based club.

A move to Los Blancos doesn’t seem to be a tempting option for the young full-back. While Carlo Ancelotti’s team can reach a pre-agreement with the player in January, the Reds are trying everything in their power to extend his stay and avoid a situation where they lose one of the most prized assets for free.

Alexander-Arnold would love to stay at his childhood club but he wants them to be a bit more ambitious, particularly in the transfer market. While the Reds have had an impressive start under Arne Slot, they only signed Federico Chiesa in the summer and that doesn’t really send the right signals.

The 25-year-old will hope they are a bit bold in the winter window as he looks to win major silverware with the club. Alexander-Arnold has already made his stance quite clear, he is ready to extend his stay if he feels the Reds have matched his ambition.
