This Bucks-Warriors trade could change the landscape of the NBA and give rise to a new superteam

This deal between the Bucks and the Warriors would shake up the NBA and make a new superteam.

Both the Milwaukee Bucks and the Golden State Warriors are old contenders who had bad seasons last year. The Dubs couldn’t even make it to the Western Conference playoffs. Giannis Antetokounmpo had an MVP-caliber regular season, which helped Milwaukee get the third seed. However, a first-round loss to the Indiana Pacers raised serious concerns about the team’s future.

It was thought that Damian Lillard would make this Bucks team win it all. He left his mark, but he was always hurt, and his performance was clearly getting worse. Brook Lopez and Khris Middleton, two other important players for Milwaukee, are also losing their form. Giannis is 29 years old, but now is not the time to be young and win a title. He might lose his cool if the Bucks aren’t as good as Boston and the other big teams in the Eastern Conference this season.

Marc Stein, a source inside the NBA, says that teams all over the league are still “wishfully thinking” that Giannis will decide to leave on his own. Giannis is signed with the Bucks until 2026–27, but he has the connections to find a new team if the Bucks fail. Even though Giannis loves Milwaukee very much, he has purposely left the door open for him to leave if his personal goals no longer fit with the Bucks’ competitive schedule.

With so much established talent, it’s too early to say that the Bucks won’t be a contender. However, Doc Rivers is always overrated as a coach, may be in a full-on downward spiral at this point, and the Bucks’ supporting cast is sadly lacking in young, rotation-quality players to build around and develop for the long term. Since the trade for Notre, Milwaukee doesn’t have all of its draft picks, and cap room is a thing of the past. There isn’t much they can do to really improve the squad. So, Giannis might get bored after just one more bad season (or half-season).

That’s where Golden State comes in. The Warriors spent the summer trying to get an All-Star on the wing, but they were not successful. Finally, the front office didn’t like how much Paul George and Lauri Markkanen cost, but Giannis is a real two-time MVP. He’s on a different level. No one will be upset if Jonathan Kuminga is traded for Giannis when Giannis becomes available.

Here’s what needs to happen for Antetokounmpo to get to the Bay.
