Diogo Jota has become the first Liverpool player to comment on Jurgen Klopp’s new role. Klopp, who has been named Head of Global Football at Red Bull, will officially start in January after stepping down as Liverpool’s manager at the end of last season.
In an interview with Portuguese news agency Record during the international break, Jota expressed his feelings about his former manager:”Klopp? He’s someone I admire greatly, and we have to respect his choice. I wish him the best in this new phase.”
The Champions League and Premier League-winning manager has spent a relaxing summer at his villa in Mallorca and has made it clear he doesn’t plan to return to management, although he remains involved in football. His contract with Red Bull reportedly includes a release clause that would allow him to manage the German national team in the future if the opportunity arises.
Klopp’s new position has sparked some controversy, particularly in Germany, where Borussia Dortmund fans are questioning his loyalty since he’ll now be supporting rivals RB Leipzig.
Red Bull also sponsors several other teams, including Red Bull Salzburg in Austria, the New York Red Bulls in the US, and Red Bull Bragantino in Brazil.
