Colombia vs Chile 4-0: Sanchez scores the opener, while Diaz, Duran, and Sinisterra showcase their skills as Colombia keeps pace with Argentina at the top of the CONMEBOL standings

Colombia hosted Chile in the 10th round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in South America. Chile, struggling at the bottom of the table and in poor form, faced a Colombian side eager to attack from the start. Colombia created several early chances, but the Chilean goalkeeper made some key saves to keep them at bay.

The breakthrough came in the 34th minute when Cordoba’s header into the box deflected off Sanchez’s head, changing direction and catching the Chilean goalkeeper off guard, giving Colombia a 1-0 lead.

Just before halftime, Cordoba found the back of the net again with a header, but the goal was disallowed due to Luis Diaz being offside in the build-up.

In the early moments of the second half, a defensive error by Chile allowed Luis Diaz to capitalize, doubling Colombia’s lead.

Despite their advantage, Colombia continued to press, leaving Chile struggling to keep up. It wasn’t until late in the match that Chile attempted to counterattack, but they were unable to find the net.

Instead, in the 82nd minute, Jhon Duran broke through Chile’s defense and easily beat the goalkeeper to make it 3-0. In stoppage time (90+2 minutes), Sinisterra received an unexpected defensive error from the opposition and calmly finished, securing Colombia’s 4-0 victory over Chile.
